Girl Scouts of Orange County STEM Expo 2025

Girl Scouts of Orange County's 10th annual STEM Expo is a milestone event designed to ignite curiosity and exploration in local Girl Scouts through hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) experiences. This year’s Expo featured more than 50 interactive booths hosted by leading organizations and companies across Southern California. Drones4Kids/DronesbyGirls proudly presented our engaging hand-on drone flight activities at the event.
University of Southern California MESA Family Day

USC MESA Family Day is an annual event designed to bring together students, parents, and families involved in the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program. It focuses on STEM education, family engagement, and community building. The event is hosted by the USC Viterbi K-12 STEM Center. Drones4Kids/DronesbyGirls were so excited to teach kids how to fly drones at the event.
Orange County Maker Faire

The Orange County Maker Faire is part of the global Maker Faire movement, often called the “Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth.” It’s a family-friendly showcase of invention and creativity. The Orange County Maker Faire 2025 featured a vibrant lineup of over 60 exhibitors and vendors. Drones4kids/DronesbyGirls' booth welcomed over 150 children and their families, offering them an exciting opportunity to pilot a drone and make an aircraft.
EL Camino Real Library

The El Camino Real Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, located in East Los Angeles, has served the community since 1929 and was renovated in 2014 to include modern features like a teen area and outdoor reading patio. It offers free Wi-Fi, public computers, and a variety of educational and cultural programs for all ages. The branch remains a welcoming space for learning and community engagement.

Anaheim Back to School Bash

Hosted by local leaders such as Council Member Carlos Leon, the event typically features free school supplies, backpacks, games, activities, and access to important resources. It brings together organizations like Anaheim Public Utilities and the OC Justice Initiative to offer services including free haircuts, food, and educational booths. All in a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.
Hyde Park Miriam Matthews Branch Library

Laguna Beach Library

The Laguna Beach Library, part of the Orange County Public Libraries system, has served the community since 1921, making it one of the oldest branches in the county. The current building, designed by local architect Fred Briggs, opened in 1973. The library offers a wide range of services including public computers, Wi-Fi, educational games for children, a local history collection, and a “Library of Things” with items like musical instruments and tech gadgets.
Learning Tree Drone Summer Camp

Learning Tree After School in Yorba Linda, CA, was founded in 2013 by two USC graduates and parents who wanted a high-quality, holistic after-school program for their children. The center offers a well-rounded curriculum for K–8 students, combining academic, artistic, and physical activities to foster creativity, confidence, and cognitive growth in a safe and supportive environment. Drone Summer Camp taught children how to pilot and code drone flight to prepare for aerial drone competitions.

We presented at the OC Octane NPA Pitch Conference. which is part of Octane’s Non-Profit Accelerator (NPA) program, which helps Orange County nonprofits strengthen their organizational capacity, increase funding opportunities, and expand community impact. The Pitch Conference, also known as the NPA 2.0 Summit & Pitch Lab, showcases nonprofit graduates who present their initiatives to funding experts and audiences for potential cash and in-kind awards, fostering innovation and sustainability in the nonprofit sector.

South Whittier Library

The South Whittier Library, part of the Los Angeles County Library system, serves over 85,000 residents and features a modern, eco-friendly building that opened in 2016. Originally established in 1915, the library now offers spacious areas for children, teens, and adults, along with public computers and community meeting rooms. Its sustainable design earned it LEED Platinum certification for energy efficiency.
Cerrito Library

The Cerritos Library, operated by the City of Cerritos, is a landmark public library known as the world’s first “Experience Library.” Originally opened in 1973 and redesigned in 2002, it features themed spaces, museum-quality exhibits, and a striking titanium-clad exterior—the first of its kind in the U.S. The library offers extensive physical and digital collections, interactive children’s areas, and community programs, making it a hub for learning, creativity, and cultural enrichment.
Clifton M Brakensiek Library

The Clifton M. Brakensiek Library, located in Bellflower, California, is part of the Los Angeles County Library system and has served the community for over 100 years. Originally opened in 1914, the library was named after Dr. Clifton M. Brakensiek, who donated the land for its current location, dedicated in 1975. Today, it offers a wide range of services including public computers, a Homework Center, a Literacy Center, and a large collection of books, media, and special items like historical American flags and sheet music.
Culver City Julian Dixon Library

The Culver City Julian Dixon Library is a busy branch of the Los Angeles County Library system, serving around 40,000 residents with a wide range of resources including books, computers, and community programs. Named after Congressman Julian Dixon, the library features dedicated spaces for children and teens, and regularly hosts educational and cultural events. It is also supported by an active Friends of the Library group.

Drone Day at Columbia Memorial Space Center

Drone Program at Lancaster Library and Stevenson Ranch Library

Our dedicated volunteers traveled 400 miles to introduce cutting-edge drone technology through a hands-on, interactive drone flight program at the Lancaster Library—a historic institution founded in October 1912 by the Los Angeles County Free Public Library. On the same day, we extended the experience to the Stevenson Ranch Express Library. More than 60 children and their families eagerly participated, making it a truly memorable day of learning and exploration.

Drones4Kids' 1st Annual Orange County Aerial Drone Competition

Drones4kids/DronesbyGirls proudly hosted our very first REC Aerial Drone Competition at Troy High School, bringing together nearly 50 teams from across Southern California for an exhilarating day of competition. Throughout the event, we witnessed many thrilling moments as teams showcased their skills. We trained three middle school teams for the challenge, and two of them successfully qualified for the national tournament. In a standout achievement, our all-girl middle school team claimed the prestigious All-Around Champion title.
Drone Workshops for Aerial Drone Competition

To prepare for our inaugural Orange County Drone Competition, Drones4kids/DronesbyGirls hosted five engaging workshops, welcoming over 50 students eager to learn drone piloting and coding. As a result, three middle school competition teams were formed and underwent intensive training. Now, with skills sharpened and excitement building, they eagerly await competition day.
Drone Program at Junipero Serra Branch Library

The Junipero Serra Branch Library is part of the Los Angeles Public Library system. Originally known as the Moneta Branch, it was established in 1908 as a book depository in a store before becoming a formal branch in 1915. The current Mediterranean Revival-style building opened in 1923, and in 1934, the branch was renamed in honor of Junípero Serra, the founder of the California mission system. We are truly honored to host a drone event in this historic library, which has stood for over a century as a beacon of knowledge and community.
